How to use it

  1. 1

Set the focus and break duration and choose one specific task.

  2. 2

Start the timer and work only on that task until the interval ends.

  3. 3

Take the break, start another session, and review the daily total.

Make starting smaller and include recovery in the plan

The Pomodoro technique divides a long study period into focused work and deliberate breaks. Twenty-five and five minutes are common defaults, not a biological rule. A difficult reading may suit 45 minutes, while a task you are avoiding may need a 10-minute entry point. The important part is choosing one finish line before starting and removing opportunities to switch tasks during the interval.

Completed minutes measure time protected, not material learned. End each focus period with an output: answer a question without notes, solve a problem, or summarize the idea aloud. During a break, move away from the material and screen when possible. Browser timers can be delayed when a device sleeps or throttles a background tab, so use the operating-system timer as a backup for safety-critical reminders. Long-term history and cross-device synchronization are intentionally outside this lightweight tool.

This tool works without an account and processes the inputs in your browser. Treat the result as a decision aid, then compare it with the rules in your syllabus or the latest information from the testing provider. A number is most useful when it changes what you do next: isolate the weak material, turn it into a clear retrieval prompt, and schedule another attempt after some forgetting has occurred. That closes the loop between calculation and durable learning.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use a focus length other than 25 minutes?

Yes. Set focus from 1 to 120 minutes and breaks from 1 to 30 minutes. Choose a length you can finish consistently.

Will my session total remain after closing the tab?

Today's completed sessions are saved in the same browser. This timer does not provide long-term history or device sync.

Does this tool upload my study data?

The calculation or conversion runs in this browser. Avoid entering confidential information, and keep an exported backup of material you cannot replace.

Can I treat the result as an official grade or score?

Use it as a planning estimate. Your school, testing provider, syllabus, and official score report take priority over this browser calculation.
